ELLA AI (Beta)

The AI Lesson Planning Tool Built for How Teachers Actually Work

ELLA-AI is a differentiated lesson planning tool built for teachers, universities, and L&D teams who need structured, AI-supported lesson design — without the guesswork.

Most AI tools in education generate content. ELLA-AI is a differentiated lesson planning tool that helps educators design better lessons — faster, smarter, and built around the real students in front of them.

Currently in beta. Free to explore.

The Problem It Solves

Teachers spend painful hours each week on lesson planning. When AI tools do exist, they’re either too generic (ChatGPT without context) or too rigid (pre-built curricula that don’t fit the room).

ELLA-AI is different. Unlike ChatGPT or Diffit, ELLA-AI lets educators save student data anonymously — so they never have to re-enter context from scratch. That data can then be interacted with across multiple languages, making it genuinely useful in any classroom, anywhere in the world. And while most tools focus on English or a single subject, ELLA-AI is built to differentiate lessons across all subjects — giving it global appeal that competitors simply don’t have.

Whether you’re new to teaching or experienced, this differentiated lesson planning tool removes the guesswork from lesson design.

How the AI Lesson Planning Tool Works

Teachers fill in up to 10 fields — all optional except the starred ones — and ELLA-AI instantly generates a complete differentiated lesson plan tailored to their class.

What you enter:

  • Student grade level and language proficiency (CEFR: A1–C2)
  • Lesson duration and topic
  • Learning objectives
  • Activity type and assessment approach
  • Student accommodations (ADHD, autism, visual, hearing, etc.)

What you get: A structured, classroom-ready lesson plan — in seconds. Refine it with a follow-up prompt, save it, or paste it into your preferred tool for deeper customization.

What Is ELLA-AI?

ELLA-AI is an AI differentiated lesson planning tool developed through a collaboration between Method Mastery and HUFLIT (Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages – Information Technology). It grew out of the ELLA ChatBot — a prototype used by educators across Vietnam, Japan, and beyond to generate structured, CEFR-aligned lesson plans in minutes.

The app takes what the chatbot proved possible and builds it into a full platform: one where teachers input their context, AI generates a structured differentiated lesson plan, and the educator stays in control of every decision.

Who ELLA-AI Is For

Universities & Academic Institutions

Give faculty a practical AI tool that integrates into existing workflows — without replacing professional judgment. ELLA-AI is designed to complement how educators already work, not disrupt it. Institutional pilot programs are available.

For departments and programs, ELLA can be integrated as part of a structured pilot on how to use a differentiated lesson planning tool.

L&D Teams & HR Leaders

Build communication and language training programs at scale. ELLA-AI lets facilitators generate differentiated content for groups with varied proficiency levels — quickly and consistently.

Individual Teachers & Trainers

Whether you teach English, manage a multilingual classroom, or coach professionals: This differentiated lesson planning tool removes the guesswork from lesson design, reduces your planning time, and improves lesson quality — without requiring any technical expertise.

Teachers can explore ELLA independently and begin testing lesson workflows with this differentiated lesson planning tool.

What Makes This Different from Other AI Tools

Most AI tools for education sit at Wave 1 — they generate content.

ELLA-AI is designed for Wave 3: helping educators redesign the learning architecture behind their teaching.

That means lesson planning, assessment design, rubric logic, and feedback workflows connected into a single teacher-centered process — not just a faster way to write a worksheet.

Most AI tools in education generate content. The next generation will help educators design learning architecture. ELLA-AI sits exactly at that transition point.

Built on Real Classroom Evidence

ELLA-AI evolved from the ELLA ChatBot, piloted with educators at HUFLIT and tested across multiple countries and teaching contexts.

Teachers — especially those who are new to the profession or returning to it — find ELLA-AI genuinely useful for planning differentiated lessons. The speed is remarkable, and the interface guides you through exactly what you need to think about.

The pilot confirmed what the design intended: that an AI lesson planning tool is most powerful when it reduces cognitive load and preserves teacher judgment — not one or the other.

Real engagements informing the design include:

  • HUFLIT (Vietnam)
  • ALS2026 Hong Kong
  • TBLT in Asia (Waseda University)
  • JALTCALL 2026 Kobe.

Current Status: Early Beta

ELLA-AI is currently in active development. The beta is open and free to explore — we’re gathering feedback from educators and institutions to shape the next version.
